Starting May 1, 2023, the use of radio guides with earphones becomes mandatory for guided group tours.
We publish below the communication to tourist guides from Mons. Vincenzo DE GREGORIO, a priest in the Archdiocese of Naples and Prelate Abbot of the Royal Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro:
To the kind and valuable artistic/tourist guides,
Increasingly frequent messages are arriving that summarize the protest in one question: Is the Chapel of San Gennaro still a place of worship? In order to avoid a drastic solution that prohibits entry to guided groups, a solution has been adopted that is now common almost everywhere, even in artistic and museum structures that are not places of worship. Starting May 1, 2023, the use of radio guides is mandatory for all guided groups. In the meantime, everyone is asked to avoid giving loud explanations in the Chapel. In case of an emergency due to not having one, you can request assistance from info@tesorosangennaro.it.
