A construction site open to the public for a special and engaging experience

As of September 18, 2025, the Deputation of the Chapel of San Gennaro and the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, in collaboration with D’Uva, have launched an important restoration and enhancement project. This intervention, supported by Mulino Caputo and carried out by Valore Italia, will involve thirty precious works kept in the Chapel and the Museum, including paintings, busts, and objects of inestimable historical, artistic, and devotional value. The goal is to preserve a unique legacy and reaffirm the importance of protecting cultural heritage.

The project was presented to the press during the celebrations dedicated to San Gennaro. The speakers’ table included important figures from the world of culture and art, including Mons. Vincenzo De Gregorio, Prelate Abbot of the Chapel, Francesca Ummarino, director of the Museum, and Riccardo Carafa d’Andria, Vice President of the Deputation. Rosalia D’Apice, ABAP Superintendent, and representatives from partner companies such as Ilaria D’Uva, Antimo Caputo, and Giovanni Lombardi also participated.

One of the unique features of the initiative is that part of the restoration will be an open construction site inside the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, offering visitors an engaging experience and the opportunity to observe the work of the restorers up close, including Valentina Verzoni (for the paintings) and Stefano Lanuti (for the metal works). The entire process will be documented on the partners’ social media channels.

Superintendent Rosalia D’Apice underlined the virtuous nature of the collaboration, while Elena Fontanella, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, highlighted how the exhibition of the Treasure in Madrid facilitated this restoration. Antimo Caputo of Mulino Caputo expressed the company’s pride in contributing to the enhancement of these works, and Giovanni Lombardi of Valore Italia spoke of the restoration as “a civic and collective gesture” that generates value over time. Ilaria D’Uva concluded by thanking all the partners for their synergy. The press release notes that Mulino Caputo has already supported other cultural projects, such as the Caputo Prize, dedicated to young artists.
